Note ชื่น and เชิญ are not the same – the "grimacing birdy" sounds different from the "dirty" igloo; and of course the tones are different:

 เชิญนั่งสิครับ    please take a seat "invite sit [insist] [polite]"

 เชิญทางนี้ค่ะ –  this way please "invite way this [polite]"

 เชิญเลย  –  go ahead (be my guest) "invite [emphasis/completely]"
